Ubuntu smartphones launching in October 2013, ROM coming this month
Ubuntu is one of the most-used Linux distros out there, and it seems the geeks among us won't have to wait very long before they get to use it on smartphones as well. Canonical founder Mark Shuttleworth has told the Wall Street Journal that smartphones running on Ubuntu would be released this October.
Shuttleworth didn't mention any OEMs or the hardware for the smartphones. However, those itching to get their hands on the OS have reason to rejoice, as Shuttleworth stated that a ROM of Ubuntu will be available for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus later this month.
He also said that the operating system will make its debut in two major markets this year, but didn't reveal which countries they might be. Shuttleworth did state that North America is a key market for Canonical. It is likely that the company will release its smartphones in lesser-developed markets too.

Samsung may be gearing up to launch Galaxy S4 on March 15
Samsung is changing lanes and speeding up production to aim for a March 15 launch for the Galaxy S IV, according to SamMobile, who claim to have gotten their info from a trusted insider. The report also states that the phone will have the model number GT-I9500 and will be seen in black and white colours.
Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy S IV at the Unpacked event in March and not at MWC, just like last year when it launched the Galaxy S III. But the source believes Samsung is waiting for the Barcelona event to conclude before sending out invites.

Could Micromax make the Canvas 3 2013's hottest handset?
This is not a rumour, this is not a leak, this is just us looking into the crystal ball.
There's a new player in the quad-core SoC game and it's from Taiwan. MediaTek’s MT6589 will be seen in a plethora of devices this year. Already, it has been featured in the Micromax A116 Canvas HD and the Karbonn S1 Titanium, both of which have great specs at a low price. However Micromax’s smartphone overshadows Karbonn’s on many fronts, the 720p display being one such instance. Of course, 720p displays are so 2012. What we are seeing more and more of are 1080p screens in phones like Xperia Z and the HTC Butterfly. Eight megapixel cameras have also to a large extent fallen by the wayside. More and more manufacturers are equipping their phones with 13 megapixel snappers. For the sake of this fortune-telling, we are focusing our powers on Micromax and its popular Canvas series. What would the Canvas 3 look like? What could its specs be?
